Amsterdam Rainproof is an initiative that works to stimulate different urban stakeholders to work together to improve water management in Amsterdam. The city is growing exponentially, and as the weather keeps changing, continues to experience heavier rainfall each year. Each resident of Amsterdam, including citizens, companies and the municipality, needs to work together to find innovative solutions to deal with the excess of water and use it for the city’s benefit. One main objective of the project is to create more green spaces around town. Gardens and parks can help with rainwater drainage and irrigation, as well as rainwater harvesting. More green space means less river-like puddles, and a better and safer city to live in.
