Exploring the expressive potential of flowers through art
Azuma Makoto is a Japanese flower artist who aims to change our perspective on the potential and beauty of flowers and plants. In 2002, Makoto and botanical photographer Shiinoki Shunsuke opened Jardins des Fleurs, a “haute couture” experimental flower shop in Tokyo. Additionally, Makoto launched an experimental botanical lab in 2009, in which he creates stunning botanical sculptures that are exhibited at art galleries and museums all around the world. Whether it’s a commercial installation for Fendi or a bouquet of flowers exploding in outer space, Makoto redefines the boundaries of plants and flowers, creating a completely new and unique horticultural experience.
