The record label making plants sing
Data Garden has been interested in the relationship between plants and music since its formation in 2011, when founders Joe Patitucci and Alex Tyson began releasing downloadable album codes printed on plantable seed paper. Since then, Data Garden has evolved into an art project which strives to connect art and plants. With their recurring exhibition ‘Quartet’, they developed the MIDI Sprout synthesizer which allows people to create and listen to plant-generated music. They also perform using this technology as a DJ set at festivals, galleries and many nightlife venues offering an ‘otherworldly interspecies dance experience’.
