The Italian architect building greener and more sustainable cities
Stefano Boeri is a Milan-based architect who founded his architectural practice, Stefano Boeri Architetti in 2008. His firm is famous for their contemporary designs which often focus on regenerating urban areas and has undertaken projects in cities all over the world including Rome, Moscow, Beijing, Sao Paulo, Qingdao and Astana. Green is often a big feature of his designs such as the Bosco Verticale or Vertical Forest in Milan, two residential towers covered in over 700 trees and plants, a design which has influenced the rise of many vertical forest structures around the world. He also authored several books including, Biomilano. Glossary of Ideas for a Metropolis Based Around Bio-Diversity (Corraini Edizioni, Mantua, 2011).
