The International Wilderness Leadership Foundation (WILD) seeks to support the balance between nature and people across the globe through conservation, on-the-ground projects and spreading environmental awareness. Their project WILD Cities specifically focuses on integrating wildlife into urban areas. By restoring disused industrial sites, parks, gardens and schoolyards, WILD Cities aims to increase biodiversity in the city and improve ecological, social and cultural conditions through these natural environments. With 80 percent of the world’s population predicted to be living in cities by 2040, WILD Foundation see it as essential to protect the integrity of natural spaces in built environments. They seek to work with neighbourhoods and communities to offer sustainable and practical solutions for incorporating green into the city. You can watch a video explaining the WILD Cities project here.
