Bike Share Farm by PIDO
Beijing’s “People’s Industrial Design Office” has designed a hydroponic farm that can be hooked up to two bikes, making it easy for the farm to be shared around a community. The design is a response to the limited access people have to urban farms, despite their growing popularity. It also means that cities with land constraints can get in on the action. The farm is composed of a triangular steel framework, which small plants can be slotted into. Meanwhile, a solar-powered pump circulates water and nutrients around the framework. It was designed during a 72-hour design hackathon in Seoul, South Korea.
