A Journal exploring the value of plants and flowers

Sprout

Green startup, Sprout, has created the world’s first sustainable pencil that you can plant after use. After you have sharpened away to the point where you can no longer write with it, you can plant the end of the pencil in soil. A dissolvable capsule containing seeds replaces what would usually be an eraser and when it comes into contact with water, it releases seeds which grow everything from lavender, sunflowers, fresh herbs and fruiting plants.

Sprout’s mission is to create sustainable products that use the Earth’s resources as efficiently and responsibly as possible. They hope to create more environmentally friendly offices and businesses with their products. You can watch a video of how the Sprout pencil works here.
